No more sub-forums. I agree, Iowa City certainly didn't need one. And really more sub-forums on CD than are needed overall.

I agree 100%. Posts on the first page of the Des Moines subforum date back to 9/20. Posts on first page of the Iowa City subform date back almost a year (11/9/12). And posts on the first page of the Iowa forum date back to 9/17.

I just don't see enough traffic to justify any subforums, and certainly no more than we have now. Save the server space for something of value.

The same can be said regarding the DSM subforum, or even the general Iowa forum.

For whatever reason, the Iowa forums just don't generate very much traffic. It's neither a "large" nor a particularly "hip" place, but there are plenty of similarly small-ish states that have several times the amount of traffic that the Iowa forums have. I'm thinking one of the key reasons to this is that there are also a disproportionate amount of trolls here, so that potentially scares off some prospective traffic.

They could easily nix the Des Moines and Iowa City sub-forums and nobody would be inconvenienced. Let's stop trying to pretend these places are big cities that hundreds of people around the country would seek to discuss on a regular basis.

Iowa City certainly doesn't need its own - there's hardly any life in there on a daily basis. Des Moines just barely creeps by with its own. I think Iowa would be fine with none, Des Moines maybe and then Iowa City + Cedar Rapids a big maybe.

It makes the whole Iowa section seem so dead because the 20 posts a day are spread over multiple forums when it's not needed. Was more interesting when it was combined.

Well the one thing that the majority does seems to agree on and that is, the traffic here dictates that no more subforums are needed.

Noticed today that the Iowa City forum has not had a post since Dec. 5.

Guess that proves a point.

You could throw Iowa City, Cedar Rapids and the Quad Cities together and call it 'Eastern Iowa' sub forum....But you still wouldn't get much traffic.

I know enough about Des Moines, and for sure know enough about Iowa City to answer some questions..But I never really think to open those forums.

The Des Moines forum does keep 'Repetitive Ronnie' contained, so there's that.

Time to get rid of it ... Iowa gets so little activity, there's really no need for any sub forums.

Since we have it in place, I don't see any reason for getting rid of the DM subforum.
