Actually, for those who says this isn't the law, They are wrong. The Iowa Supreme court ruled back in 2009, That ALL SAME SEX MARRIAGES where legal. It would be highly illegal for anyone in Iowa to try and stop you from getting married. Those who said it isn't the law, don't even know what the law is. Ignore all these haters, They have no clue, they are the hill billy country people of Iowa that us REAL HUMANS despise. Ignore the ignorance in this forum, No matter where you go in Iowa they cannot refuse you, and if they do, IT IS A FEDERAL CRIME, it doesn't matter who doesn't like it or does like it, It is a federal crime if they try and stop you.

Perhaps state law SHOULD be a popular vote. If Iowa doesn't have as much support for same sex marriage, Iowa should not offer that. People in favor of same sex marriage could migrate to certain states to have it recognized; other people that prefer not to endorse the activity could live in a state where the majority agrees.

Denying basic civil rights to a group of citizens based on the "popular vote" is what kept the notion of slavery going strong for America's first couple hundred years. Marriage is a basic civil right and a legal arrangement which all citizens -- even convicted criminals -- are granted.
Note: A citizen is a person who lives in a country. It is not an animal or plant, just in case someone was going to play the tired "what about people marrying their dogs" card in this argument. Extending voting rights to women in the early 1900s didn't also lead to trout or squirrels voting in elections. It was merely extending a basic civil right (i.e. voting) to a group of citizens (women) who were previously denied access.
Gay marriage is no different today than extending voting rights to women was 100 years ago.
