I am a Texas transplant living in Iowa. I am now retired and want to move back Texas. I am having a tough decision on moving since my kids and grandkids live in Iowa. HELP!

OP, you could always be a snowbird and just stay in Texas during the winter. What is making ya want to move? Is it the weather, you miss people there, or what? Do you have any family or close friends in Texas? This arctic cold we have had would make anyone think of going someplace warmer. Still don't make a rash decision, you might miss seeing your family in Iowa if you do move back.

Oh, I know. We were even colder earlier in the week, and I am 2.5 hours north of Austin.

LOL! You sent us the ice/snow storm that hit us in Georgia this week. I razzed my cousin in San Antonio about that "gift".

I lived in Dallas all my life, then moved to Cedar Rapids, IA and jumpped back withing 3 years lol. I couldn't stand how boring and backwards Cedar Rapids was. I did like Iowa City and some of the other cities. Just not Cedar Rapids the city of five smells.

Without getting too noxy about your finances, how well did you retire? It seems that the best option would be to move back to Texas and make frequent trips back to Iowa to see the young'uns if it's financially doable.

Or, as someone mentioned, become a "snowbird." My cousin has done that for years, he's got a nice trailer in a nice mobile home bark near McAllen that he paid less than $20K for fully furnished, plus $1500/year for lot rent.
