My husband I and my 3 children are relocating to Davenport Ia from Freeport IL within the next 2 months. Were having trouble finding a 3 bedroom house or apartment within our price range.. no more than $700 a month for rent.. we would like to do rent to own home but our only income right now is unemployment until we move down there and get jobs. Any help with where we can look online for houses or anything that are not in an expensive neighborhood..any insight at all about the city would be helpful Thank you!

I went to craigslist, put $700 max, 3br, house..There was a few. At that price you'll want to look in central Dav. or the 'west end'.

Craigslist should have some good deals on Kevlar vests, too. Might want to look into that.

You may want to look at finding a rental in a small town or suburb of Davenport. Rents in a small town will be less than rents within the city limits.
Look online at a Davenport newspaper and check out rentals and locations. Beware of places that charge non refundable rental app fees. Look for animal rent charges if you have pets.

You're very dramatic. I know a lot of young girls like that.

That is hardly a personal attack.

Please stick to the topic, everyone.

Maybe try Parkview. There's some rentals out that way but you will have to drive 15 min or so into town.

It's definitely going to be tough to find a 3 BR in a decent neighborhood for that price. Even 2 bedrooms in good neighborhoods go for more than 800, and 3 BRs in not great neighborhoods mostly are above $700 too. That said, there's nowhere in Davenport where you need a bulletproof vest just to live there. If you don't involve yourself with criminals, they generally don't go around shooting random residents.

[mod snip: discusses moderation]

On topic: Finding a 3 bedroom for under 700 will be very difficult. Davenport isn't one of the higher cost areas of Iowa, but that is still a very low price on a 3 bedroom. When you find areas that offer more rooms per dollar, frequently management is very poor and accepting section 8 housing (which pays based on rooms). Some people find the resulting community in section 8 apartments to be less desirable. This may be a fairly difficult endeavor for you, but I wish you the best of luck. Since section 8 apartments tend to get pretty loud, you might want to invest in some good ear plugs, but you won't actually need a Kevlar vest.
