Talking I loved Council Bluffs Iowa I plan on relocatting thair from Az

Having grown up in Council Bluffs and since living in Nebraska, Colorado, and Arizona I have to say there's much more to do anywhere than in Council Bluffs. If you like corn and pigs or Omaha Royals minor league baseball, you're set. If you like the variation of mountains to desert to lakes (Lake Powell and Havasu), major league baseball, the NFL, the NBA, skiing, proximity to Mexico for scuba diving and and fishing, Las Vegas and California next door you're better off where you are. I spent 8 years in Tucson and now 6 years in Gilbert. I enjoy visiting Council Bluffs, but wouldn't consider moving back. My parents and brothers are there and my inlaws are in Omaha. They consider it special to visit us here.

There are all sorts of things to do in the Omaha-Council Bluffs metro... really not much missing from larger cities... it just happens to be cheaper and more accessible. You mentioned the Omaha Royals (personally, I'd much rather watch the up and coming stars from over the dugout, 1 row off of the 1st base line... than squint to see some big star from the nosebleed section of an average MLB park. I can watch the major leagues on tv). Now, along with the Royals... there's the American Hockey League Knights (farm club of the Calgary Flames)... there's arena football, and Creighton basketball games have virtually the same atmosphere as the NBA in the new Qwest Center (drawing over 17,000 a game!)

Of course being centered in the 'middle of everywhere'... it's a short drive to get to the Rockies... or head eastward to Chicago/east... Texas is a short jaunt south as well. It's the perfect jump off point for vacationing.

We also have numerous cultural amenities... check out the Omaha section of the Nebraska forum for more info.

We moved to Iowa City from the East coast 2 years ago because my husband got a 'job offer he couldn't refuse'. I can't wait until we can retire to get out of here. There's nothing to do here. We've always found tons of things to do, places to eat & shop in AZ when we've been there and that's where we will retire. Think twice about coming back to this small town environment. The 'newness' wears off very soon and you'll definitely miss civilization. Not a day goes by that I don't think of something I miss from where I used to live.

Ok, Iowa City is much different from Council Bluffs/Omaha Metro area. I’m not sure where you found a comparison between the two. I think nearly one million people in a given area with many fortune 500 companies might be grouds to call it civilization (maybe that’s just me). I will agree, Omaha sports..SUCK! Royals suck, the hockey sucks, the arena football is lame.....Creighton basketball however is a great time. There’s no arguing that. Sorry Star-Gazer...not trying to be mean but I’ve never met anyone who felt the urge to watch a royals game. Their attendance is like below 3% stadium capacity per game. I made that up but it could be even lower.
KNIGHTTIME - Corn & Pigs? Come on. Our Metro's economy really has very little to do with any sort of farming. Would you consider Chicago Corn and Pigs? Agriculture is very big in Chicago’s economy. One more thing, I would rather raise a family in a state that isn't completely saturated with illegal foreigners. Sorry ONE more thing.....enjoy your lawns of gravel =-)

You must be talking about a different Council Bluffs from what I know. It never looked that impressive to me when Ive been to it. Kind of reminds me of Sioux City. Omaha dosnt look too shabby though. I guess if I was forced to live in that area I would choose Omaha or Lincoln.

ya i agree you need to enroll in Iowa Western Community College when you get back to CB. I have never in my life heard anyone say they want to move TO Council Bluffs. I grew up there. I do love it, But I don't plan on staying in Iowa when im done with school at ISU (Ames Iowa--which i dont recommend either.) I would say move to Omaha and visit CB when you want to.

Actually, quite a few people have been interested in locating to Council Bluffs, even on this forum -- read through them. Why don't you plan on staying in Iowa? Does it not offer you the job opportunity you're looking for? ...or do you just prefer a different setting? I only ask because I used to feel the same way but randomly grew out of it, and now I love Iowa!

It is great to see your enthusiam for CB, Iowa! The town really has seen so much development. I can't believe how much has been built along I-80, including a huge Bass Pro, which I shopped at.

I know people from Council Bluffs that moved to Arizona. One eventually moved back to CB, with one heading back to AZ. I also know a gal that grew up in Council Bluffs, and now lives in Phoenix, and loves it.
