Hello, My son and I along with my boyfriend are soon relocating to burlington/keokuk IA from mpls MN. Due to my boyfriends job. I was wondering if anyone could steer us in the right direction as far as work for myself , good schools and a decent but cheaper place to live for the next two years . I work in nursing and would prefer a hospital job but it doesnt have to be. Any suggestions are much appreciated..

Burlington or Keokuk? They are about 45 minutes apart and people generally don't commute that.

well my boyfriend is currently working in burlington but will go as far out as kiokuk. I'm not really sure of all the cities between there.

There is Fort Madison, which sits between Burlington and Keokuk. I wouldn't choose Keokuk to live unless I HAD to and my job was right there. I'd stick with Burlington or Ft Madison, or go a little north to Mediapolis or Wapello if you want a really small town.

When I lived in Burlington, it seemed that if you worked in Bton, you lived in Bton. A few might live across the river in Illinois, but never live in Keokuk, work in Bton.

Danville is a nice little town if you can find a place there. Keokuk stinks. Literally. Not fond of Ft Madison. Wouldn't live in Burlington again unless I really had to but it is much better than Keokuk or Ft Madi. New London is a big farther out but still about the same distance as Ft Madi.Mt Pleasant is about a 30 - 40 minute drive but not a bad town. I guess any of the above towns would be good depending upon where your job was if it wasn't in Burlington.
