I was wrong about the point many of us have been trying to make.

The point really is: You cannot say ALL Iowans are ignorant of ethnicity/race based on a few individual experiences, just as you cannot say ALL Hispanics call Iowans "rednecks".

OP: Where specifically in Iowa are you encountering this? This doesn't seem to be the case at all where I live and work on a daily basis, and I know quite a few people of different ethnicities and races. Nobody seems to care, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist for you ...
