Hey I need a little heads up if anyone can tell me where I can find month to month rentals and not get roped into a year contract I want to be able to move into a house when I find one... Anybody have any ideas on these two places?

Hmmm well I can't give you any specific suggestions... but I will direct you where I just recently directed another user on here.
Apartments for rent - ApartmentFinder.com <--- a great place to start, call around some of the places you see here you may be surprised what you'll find. Also definately keep an eye on the rentals in both of those local newspapers.

For Cedar Rapids, you could contact the Chamber of Commerce and ask them to send you their relocation package -
The Cedar Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce (http://www.cedarrapids.org/index.asp - broken link) (I don't find anything about the relocation package on their website but I know they have them -- I've gotten them from them to send to people from out of town who I was interviewing). I believe it includes the little "apartments" magazines that come out monthly or so and are available in all the coffee shops and grocery stores. Next time I see one of those, I'll check for any web address on them. Also, the Gazette is available free online. Go to
http://www.gazetteonline.com/ and click on "read the e-edition" in little blue letters under the blue "obits" button. The classified ads are a good place to fine the non-contract options, I think.
