I went to Davenport today for the Quad Cities' Festival of Trees Balloon Parade and took a few pictures while I was there. I watched the parade from the Skybridge, so forgive the reflections and slight discoloring in some of the photos.

The fourth picture is the Mississippi Lofts, which I thought looked pretty well done from the outside. The fifth is a new loft conversion project, obviously not started yet. I think that building has lots of potential once they get started with it. It seems to me that downtown Davenport is definitely improving itself, and I think I may visit the Quad Cities again soon (if only just to see the Figge, which I haven't been to).

Thanks for the awesome photos!!! I lived in Iowa as a child along the cedar river in Black Hawk county. My mom left with us in the middle of the night as my father was abusive. (He is now in jail for murder) I have not been back since. I have been bothering my husband to take me back at least for a visit so my kids can see where I spent my childhood. I would love to move back! Looking at all your photos has brought back a flood of memories.

This thread has been great! I keep checking to see if more have been posted. We're moving there in early 2010 and the kids have never been there, so the pics are helping them become accustomed to it. (I especially like the ones of Pella, since that will be our neighboring town. Well, and it's one of the three places I've been in Iowa. Haha)

Thanks again!

Default Iowa Pics - Green

Here are some pics of Iowa in late summer ... just a refresher for those of you filling frigid right now!

This is a photo of the beautiful (once upon a time) farmhouse at the very end of the movie Twister. East of Eldora, IA in Hardin County.

This is the road the house is on - also in the movie.

This is the view from my family's place north of Waterloo.

Neighbor's horses - also North of Waterloo, Black Hawk County.

Also - everyone stay safe with this winter storm rolling in!

Here is a beautiful wintry picture I took around Storm Lake last weekend. I hope I'm not scaring any newcomers away with this photo...
