I am a first time landlord. Tried to help someone who was having a hard time but didn't think i could do it in her time frame. She offered to help clean and paint but then did some stupid things that i told her not to do. She ended up not getting the assistance that she thought she would. I told her i would work with her on rent for a couple months and did other things like pd for her phone service and a phone. Told her of several places that could help her. BUT I said you have to have utilities in your name which is what she needed for other assistance. She moved her things into my home and then told me she had rights to live there because of work she did. I agreed to work with her but not pay for everything. Any ideas. She never signed a lease. Do i have her sign one now? So confused!!
