My fiancé are looking to relocate in June. We were originally fixed on either Tennessee or Kentucky. And I am a CNA, he is now a cook at the same facility. I researched Iowa about a year ago and liked how I saw schools with very good ratings compared to our school here in nj. I decided to add Iowa back onto our list especially since I did a search on indeed and see so many places starting at what I make now or actually more. And so many are offering 1-2k sign on bonus! I was wondering why there were so many high sign on bonuses. The fact rentals are cheaper there than here and I'm seeing great starting rates compared to here is awesome. A former coworker of mine used to live in Iowa and loved it! Her children who are early 20s moved back there and love it! We can actually transfer our jobs because my company has a facility in des mounds and Davenport. I'm happy I just stumbled upon this thread and didn't even need to do a search! It's hard to find info for CNAs and such. Maybe it's fate ! Southerngirl keep me posted on your decision please

Hello Everyone,it's been awhile since my first post as I 've been trying to do some research.Spent only about 3 days in Des Moines and didn't have enough time to do what I needed but plan to make another trip this summer. As far as my search for employment as a CNA the possibilities are endless.I have read many conversations about racism in Iowa.I'm not allowing fear to prevent me from living in Iowa.I am an African American wanting to know about Cedar Rapids and if it's welcoming to people of color?Coralville,Waterloo and Iowa City were given bad reviews. There's a mixture of everyone's opinion in every city and I know that one person's bad experience can't speak for everyone.I have chosen three places in CR where I'd love to work and to make CR my home. Please tell me that CR is a wonderful welcoming city for everyone.Hope I have not said anything wrong. My next visit is in June. Thanks in advance for your help.
