I recently had damage done to my 2 month old car by a company that does windshield installation. They dripped primer on my bumper and headlight and it dried on. They agreed to pay for the damage and I got 2 estimates and submitted them. One body shop man talked to them prior to writing an estimate and told them he could possibly do the work more cheaply if the paint could be buffed off, the windshield company absolutely refused that option and told him to write it for the higher amount. I have now had the work done and the body shop man was able to do it for a lesser amount than the original quote. There are no lien holders on the vehicle. The company is now refusing to to issue the check for the estimate to me. I was told by my insurance agent that I didn't even have to have the work done if I didn't want to and the windshield company legally still had to pay me for the original lower estimate. What are my options at this point? Any thoughts?
