Along with Dubuque, it is one of the more picturesque cities in the state. Unlike Sioux Falls, it's not growing like gangbusters, but it makes up for it in character.

However, it does have a reputation (and deservedly so) for being rather smelly (especially in the summer) due to the rendering plants in the area.

Le Mars is a very clean, growing community with some large companies headquartered there that provide good paying jobs. It is NOT the environment you will get from most towns with the main employer being packing houses.

Vermillion is home to the University of South Dakota giving you lots of alternative entertainment. It's not a crazy nut case college town like Iowa City is where the students dominate everything. As I very well understand, college towns are either a positive to some and a big negative to others. A big plus for Vermillion is that you're less than 30 miles from Lewis & Clark Lake by Yankton and the recreation opportunities you would have there. You're also closer to Sioux Falls for shopping and entertainment.
Le mars employs mostly Wells Blue bunny not packing houses

Quick note: I found an apartment in Sioux City. Far west and north. I nice neighborhood. 600 a month for a 1 bedroom.

Cheers

I'm glad that you were able to find a place! I hope that "MamaBear" sees that price. It would be much more affordable than where they are currently.

Agreed, 600 for a 1BR is a more than fair price these days, regardless of location. SC isn't squeaky-clean, but it doesn't have any real "bad" parts either.

First night in Sioux City.

Still a toss up if I live in Sioux City or across the river.

Time will tell.

Cheers
