Good evening,

Looking to see if there are any apprentice and/or journeyman lineman that frequent this forum. I am getting ready to retire from the Air Force and am looking for my next career and lineman seems interesting to me. I dislike office work, sitting behind a computer, and sitting inside all day. I have been a Crew Chief my whole career on the flight line so i love being outside, I've worked in wind, rain, snow, sleet, scorching heat, blizzards, you name it, i have worked it getting fighter aircraft ready to fly. I am just trying to set myself and family up for the future. Thank you in advance.

Aaron

You have to get into an apprentice program.

Attached is the school everyone goes to in our state and the area. Whether it's the REA's or major power companies, Mitchell Area Vo-Tech is the program they hire from. Mitchell SD is 75 miles straight west of Sioux Falls. The Mitchell town is a very nice community and worth checking out.

I hear you singin' in the wire, I can hear you through the whine; and the Wichita lineman is still on the line.

It was a great one. Real music. Oh, what we took for granted.

I couldn't believe what I stumbled upon yesterday. Driving down a side street in Indianola Iowa we drove by a school with multiple electric poles of various configurations. I asked my daughter who lives there what this was all about and she said it's a school for journeymen lineman. I remembered your post enquiring about schools in Iowa. Well here it is.
