Hello all! I'm looking for recommendations on family-friendly activities in Iowa the week between Christmas and New Year's. Hotels, museums, etc. I'm bringing my family from IL to visit family in NW Iowa for a couple days, so anything along I-80, I-35, or I-380 would be ideal. Would appreciate your input!

Last year, the weather over that time period was cold but mostly dry, so traveling around the state wasn't a problem. However, this year, it seems like winter is starting early: the snow that's coming in tonight is more like December weather, so you might want to have a Plan B in the event that the roads are too nasty.

That said, here are two links to get you started.

I’m not from there, and I dont know how old the kids are, but when we had a houseful of teenagers and parents one Christmas, everyone got gift certificate to the local indoor shooting range. They had a lot of fun target shooting and now, they go back every time they come.
