I am sending my sister, who moved to Texas, a care package of Good Ole Fashion Iowa Food. Any suggestions?

Just to be clear, is "Good Ole Fashion Iowa Food" capitalized for a reason? Is this a brand or something?

Sterzing's Potato Chips are a good one ... you can order them online and have them sent in the mail. They are produced in SE Iowa and usually only distributed in grocery stores in that region of the state.

Make sure you do not buy the new trans-fat free ones. They are not as good.

If you're gonna send it really fast, I'd suggest freezing a jar of Gino's creamy garlic dressing and mailing it. That's the best salad dressing ever and very distinctive of Des Moines' Italian food. I'd also throw in the Italian blend from Graziano's and maybe get some Italian wedding cookies from there as well (ask for "wandas"). There's also Dutch letters and Pella bologne you could send.

Best chips ever. And yeah the trans fat free ones aren't nearly as good.

No it not brand, but people capitalize Chicago-Style Pizza, so why not capitalize Good Ole Fashioned Iowa Food?

Cookie's is okay. I'd opt for Big Daddy's though.

Oh yeah. Thanks

I have lived here my whole life and all I have had was Iowa food. I honestly can't think of what's not 'uniquely' Iowan'. Because it's all I had. She misses the meat the most, So I'm sending amana meat and Yea the first thing she said was I soooo miss Sterzing's. LOL. I'm sending her a case. And does anyone have any ideas on how to ship sweet corn in the mail or would UPS be better. She is finishing up Grad work down there.

Just ship it as fast as possible and it could come out alright. If you want to get really fancy, you could send all kinds of things with dry ice. I know there are places in Tejas where you can order ribs, brisket, etc and they will send it on dry ice so why can't we send some Iowegian corn fed beef down there?
