Just saw this thread. Reynolds has done a terrible job with this crisis, but not for the reason of this thread. At least back then when this thread started, most non essential businesses were forced to close. Sex shops were probably just not included as a mistake.

I guess that's my fault for diverting the purpose of the thread. But the point still stands that she has absolutely done a lousy job handling the pandemic. "I trust Iowans to do the right thing" - no, you can't. Iowa is a fine place, but just like every other state, it has its share of dullards and rebels who can't be counted on to do the right thing without someone holding their hand. It needs to be mandatory.

I'm not a fan of hers but there hasn't been a run on hospitals. Iowa isn't in crisis. I'm glad she opened the state back up when she did.

Others states are having established businesses/restaurants closing permanently.

I feel like Iowa is doing as good a job as can be expected.

I think it's more attributable to Covid - lots of people have free time and are stressed. And then there are the "protests".

Iowa historically was a state to look up to when it comes to public health/safety and civil rights. It's probably towards the bottom now in both categories (and is actually on pace to become the most overweight state by 2030).

I know that the blame can't be entirely placed on the elected leadership for these issues, but it's still a gut punch to see how far Iowa has fallen on the "respectability" totem pole over the past few years.
The sooner people stop caring about what others think about them, where there live, etc., the better off they will be IMO.
