At Exit 201 there is a little truck stop called Kwik Star with a restaurant there called The Pine Cone. It is delicious and has a buffet often along with daily specials. On the Kwik Star side which is the convenience store side they have some of the best fruit you will find with excellent prices and they have excellent hot dogs (my favorite is the Ballpark Angus Hot Dog). They also have other snacks, baked goods, fountain beverages, coffee, bottled water and all the other convenience store items. Well worth the few minutes it takes to pull in and wander around. Iowa City and Des Moines both have great downtown(ish) farmers' markets on Saturday morning. You can certainly eat your way through either one.

Not to change the subject..But..I drove from Iowa to San Diego once...Best part of the trip was taking a detour off of 80 and going up thru Estes National Park in Colorado.

Probably worth qualifying that statement.
If you like sweet fruit wines, definitely stop and check it out. If your perfect wine is a good dry red, then you could probably pass the wineries.
It is a good point, though. If you are into wines at all, there are a number of smaller wineries along your route that could be fun to pull of and check out, with some to fit any taste.
