Parts of Des Moines look like a border city now.

If you are talking about cultural or ethnic diversity you may havea point, butit's pretty clear from your post that you are talking about race.

Although Hispanic is a race I think. Bosnians can be either Muslims or Serbian Bosnians which makes them Christian Orthodox. Both can be pretty aggressive and I don't want to generalize but just take it as a warning.

Hispanics are well known but it depends on where they come from.

Are Iowans friendly? They were never unfriendly to me but very distant and not as helpful as the folks from the southwestern states. Just my 2 cents.

The point is that there is ethnic/racial diversity in Des Moines beyond "Oh, my great-great-great-grandfather immigrated from the Czech Republic." The Bosnian community is culturally distinct from mainstream WASP America, and I would absolutely consider it a minority community, even if it is made up of caucasians.

"Hispanic" isn't a race, it's an ethnicity. It refers to anyone who is native to a predonminately Spanish-speaking country, such as Spain or Mexico.

Small towns in Iowa may not have as many minorities, but they usually welcome them and are very friendly.
