Hi, I am a 21 year old student who is looking to take part in a work and travel experience in the US. I am planning to live there for 4 months, working at a seasonal job and I still haven't decided where exactly I want to go.
Here are the characteristics of my desired spot:

*speaks good english: I am majoring in English and I want to go somewhere with not much slang.
*gay-friendly.
*Without many slopes that I would have to climb. I can't strain my muscles too much due to a disability.
*lots of job opportunities. At least not so much affected by the recession.
*College life; I wanna hang out and meet some people around my age.
*Inexpensive.
*Safe.
*Everything whithin walking distance.

I have been given a lot of advice but I am still puzzled!

PLEASE HELP PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks in advance!

It has to be Ames or Iowa City. The University of Iowa (in IC) probably has a better English program, especially for writing, but Iowa City is somewhat hilly in some places. I personally prefer Iowa City to Ames so I would think it is worth it, but it depends how flat you want it. The campus in Ames is extremely flat.

They both fit the rest of the criteria, although the gay community is probably larger (or at least more visible?) in Iowa City.
