Hi all i'm looking to move to bettendorf and will be around brown st and 17th st. I am looking for general information for the area including schools, crime rate(although I did an online check myself and where I am coming from dwarfs any crime statistics i've seen so far for bettendorf), events/entertainment, etc.

Any specific info on Brown and 20th, 19th, 18th, 17th, 16th, 15th, etc area would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Not so much. As you can see on Google Maps or wherever, Brown is about a block North of "downtown Bettendorf." When most people think of Bettendorf residential areas they are thinking $300k+ houses out in new subdivisions, but these older neighborhoods are quite a bit cheaper, and still fairly safe. Bettendorf has some plans to try and bring some life into their downtown, but the jury is still out on whether that will actually work.

So in summary, this area is one of the older areas of a city that is basically the affluent suburb city of the Quad City area, so there's still not much crime.

You'll be downtown near K&K Hardware, Sports Fan Pizza etc....Elementary school will be either Thomas Jefferson, which is is one block up from Brown, on Holmes near 6th or 8th or Neil Armstrong which is somewhere close to Central and 23rd, I think. Both are good schools. There is only one Jr. High and one High school in Bett. Both sit on 18th a couple of miles up. The library also sits on 18th.

Close to you on Holmes and 12th(maybe) there is a pretty large park called McManus that everyone always called Rocketship or Rocket park.

I spent most of my early years in that exact area (10th & Brown), so if you have any questions, Just ask.

Edit: No real crime in Bettendorf. No real events or entertainment either. Other than a Casino right downtown and a new civic center there is really nothing in Bett. as far as entertainment. You'll learn to "Jump across the river" to Moline to go to concerts and sporting events at the IWireless center (aka The Mark).

The Quad Cities is really one big city, with Bett. being the bedroom community of the four.

Of course I was just joking about the gang thing. I will say that my mom's house was buglarized on 14th St. last year.
