Hey Guys,
I am planning to move to dubuque,IA soon. I am in search of good townhomes, condos or apartments to rent. I would prefer a place closer to IBM, but if it is expensive then I need an advice for a best (economical) suburb of Dubuque,IA.

Please provide rent averages, living cost, gas prices etc.

Anything close to IBM is cheap compared to being further away. However, the apartments (if you can find one) in the downtown are are so dumpy the health dept. should be called. I cannot believe that Iowans would tolerate such slumlords, then they complain about the Chicago ghetto folk moving here. Well who else would live in those dumps? I would think twice about moving here for an IBM job if I were you. You will regret it.

I would check out the west side of town if I were you. That's the nice new part of town. Yes, it will cost a little more, but I think it's worth it. The southern part of Dubuque seemed good too, a little older but still safe and comfortable. We almost rented a house there but then found a great place on the west side.
