Hi everyone,
Does anyone have any information on Lake Wapello State Park? The info on the website sounds good, but I was hoping to hear from someone who has been there. I am thinking of renting a cabin there in May for a week just to get away and relax. I have 2 dogs, so extensive walking/hiking trails are a must! We absolutely want something quiet and secluded where I can walk the dogs and have some serious down time....

We did the same thing a few years ago at Lacy Keosauqua and really enjoyed it, but thought we would try Lake Wapello this year.

Does anyone have any experience with Lake Wapello? We are open to other suggestions as well!

Thank you!
SW

Hi,

bringing up an old post... But I've just been invited to the cabins at Lake Wapello, but I can only go if I can take my dog - although I can't find any information on if dogs are allowed there? Just curious if you ended up going, with your dogs, and if it was allowed??

In the past all cabins at Iowa state parks were pet-friendly, but to make accommodation for guests with severe pet allergies all parks now have certain cabins that are designated "pet-free." If you are sharing a cabin that someone else has rented you will just have to check with them to make sure they didn't rent a pet-free unit. If you're making your own reservation just let them know you have a dog so you will get the right cabin.
