And I'm Filipino, who came from a country originally dominated by Muslims. I have something to say about Islam too.

Now back to the topic....

There is a very close connection between Mizrahi Jews and Muslims. Worldwide there is usually cooperation between the two.

Pruzhany has better knowledge of Islam than many Muslims have. He is quite fluent in Arabic and has a better understanding of Mideastern Arabic than I have.

While I speak Arabic I speak the Darija Dialect. If I ever tried to speak to a Palestinian in Arabic I would have to hire Pruzhany as an interpreter.

He and I might disagree about religious issues, but I will attest he is quite knowledgeable about Islam

That's an incorrect statement. You meant to say CATHOLIC Christianity. Women cannot be priests in the Roman Catholic church.

I personally know about five women priests who are ordained in the Episcopal Church, which began ordaining females in 1977. There are other Christian churches with female clergy, as well.

Why would there even be a need for men and woman to be intermingled in a Mosque. There are no Pews nor any preferred location. There is no idle talking or interaction among people in a Mosque. when in a Mosque our thoughts are focused on prayer and notheing else.
No section of the floor is any better than any other. No matter where one is in a Mosque one's eyes should be focused on the part of their prayer mat where their forhead will touch during supplication.

Wow that is a beautiful verse. I know the symbols and there meanings. The temple of the dog. The donkey that speaks. And the woman that thirst for water. Well that is a summary. Still got to read the Quran.

For the same reason men and women were intermingled in our grocery store this morning.

Both men and women were in the store for the same purpose and we each were minding our own business, and we naturally intermingled.

Wouldn't it be the same in a Mosque?

As long as a Mosque provides sufficient room for both genders, what need is there for them to be intermingled.

As we stand bare footed with our feet touching the feet of the person on both sides of us, there can easily be misunderstandings.
In addition because of the way in which we prostrate, some may easily misunderstand accidental slips of clothing to be flirtatious.

Another problem would be the Wadu (ritual bathing) area that one passes through as they enter a Mosque. Typically there is one at the men's entrance and one at the women's entrance.
Being in a Mosque calls for a bit more physical contact than what is found in a grocery store.

Before we enter a prayer area we have to be in a state of wadu. Yes we can perform wadu at home prior to going to the Mosque, but unless we live very near to the Mosque there are many things that will invalidate the wadu before we get there. For that reason most prefer to perform wadu immediately before stepping into the prayer area.

besides the pew, how is that any different from other religions? yet their founders had no need to discriminate against women.

I had no idea that Mosques were so crowded. It sounds like a fire hazard, especially if the leader is preaching hell-fire and damnation.

Heck, that would be true even if there is another male next to you.

What if you are on a somewhat crowded elevator and a few women want to get on. Do you get off so you won't have to stand next to them?

what you need to change is your manner of thinking.

so create entrances at equal sides of a mosque, instead of having men at the glorious front and women at the hidden side. no need to discriminate.
