So you are making the point that slaying unbelievers also used to be done by Christians...All that proves is that Christianity has seen the error of this kind of thinking and no longer does this, and haven't done it for a long time.
Islam on the other hand still indulges in the practice of killing apostates, adulterers, gays etc....How can you call Islam the modern alternative when it still uses these medieval forms of punishment?
