This happened on the Muslims' most critical mission in accordance to Islam, i.e. Pilgrimage to the Kaaba.
Any relations to any sins.

What is the Muslims general interpretations of the above incident?

Any explanation from the Quran on this?

69:5. As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the lightning.
Any relation of this verse to the above incident?

This is an interesting question. I also am curious about the Muslim interpretation about why, on 9-11, allah put a rainbow over where the Twin Towers were destroyed when Muslims flew planes into them.

As Christians we need to pray for our Muslim brothers and sisters injured in this terrible event. We
have experienced crane failures in NYC and it's simply a sign of how vulnerable we are to mechanical
failures . Mecca is a holy shrine to these people, their loving families and it just hurts my soul to see
this kind of accident.

There is absolutely zero supernatural influence on falling cranes. They can fall on anyone.

Muslims think everything that happens is caused by a supernatural Creator of the universe. Allah has complete control over everything according to Islam.

Close but not quite. We believe Allaah(swt0 has enabled all things. But they happen because of choices and natural physical laws. His knowing all that will happen is not predestination.

There's a certain paradox in all this - evident to any but the most superstitious.

Just before and during Hajj, the area surrounded the Kabbah becomes the most desly populated region on earth with about 3,000,000,000 crowded into a very small area. Even minor accidents can result in hundreds of deaths.

In the month before Hajj considerable construction takes place in order to accpmmodat the over 2,000,000,000 Pilgrims. Even though it is not yet Hajj Mecca is already crowded with early arrivals. The miracle is that a toppling crane did not kill thousands.

Nothing supernatural about this. simple fact when an accident occurs in a crowd there will be many casualties.

I think you have a few too many zeros there

I hope there is additional supports for these cranes in an area like this in the future so a tragedy like this doesn't happen again.
