With all due respect, it will change because humans want it to change and spread education and knowledge about it. Not because a God is willing. Every single country on earth that leaves things in God's hands is a complete mess. We're here now, that's all we know. We have to sort out these things. Leaving it up to God is not a plan of action.
Educational policies are the best method, and its good to see people are out there spreading the word about the negative practice of FGM.
when we as muslims place something in God(swt)'s hand it carries with it the responsibility that we our self must do all we can first.
Or from a saying of Muhammad(saws). "Trust in Allaah(swt), but always tie up your camel."
We do believe that the majority of help from Allaah(swt) is what we have the ability to do.
Its not showing religious diversity, only racial diversity. They are only portraying American Muslims, not Muslims in other countries. To give a more balanced picture, they should interview Muslims who live all over the world. Including fundamentalist Muslims and terrorist Muslims.
The Muslims in other places of the world would probably be killed for participating in a video that included these American Muslims that refuse to follow the same rules. Yes, that is speculation on my part, but what do you think would happen to them?
Yes, Islam is the most dangerous religion right now. But Christianity was used to terrorize the world before Islam was ever created. All religion is stupid and dangerous. To pretend Christianity isn't dangerous just because it hasn't been so bad lately is foolish.
So your argument is "well ya but so and so did it first"?
I am not going to defend the practice of FGM (or infant circumcision, for that matter), but this is not accurate. In Indonesia the procedure is largely ceremonial, and a small nick is made with a needle. The clitoris most certainly is not sliced off.

Ceremonial my as. Guess you have been there to watch what some old religious fanatic does with a little girl. What's bad is this country has been getting worse not better.
"The Indonesian method commonly involves cutting off part of the hood and/or tip of the clitoris with scissors, a blade or a piece of sharpened bamboo."
Are you a Christian? If so, you should actually read your Holy Books. Jesus explicitly says his teachings DO NOT invalidate or replace the Old Testament. If you're a Christian you have two Holy Books, not one. If the New Testament invalidated the Old Testament it would mean that God is fallible, which would mean he isn't all knowing or omnipotent, which would the entire religion is a lie.
Your interpretation is in error.
Whether or not God is fallible is not proved by scribes who write scripture.
However, if you have evidence of God authoring scripture, let me know where I can find His agent's office, to discuss terms.
. . .
In Jesus' words (paraphrased):
1. Greatest commandment: Love God, love your neighbor as yourself [Matt
22:37]
(On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets...)
2. Forgive trespasses. [Matt 6:14, 15; 18:21; 18:35; Mark 11:25; Luke
17:4]
So if Jesus says "love God, love your neighbor" trumps all the law and the prophets, and we should forgive, I will go with HIS TEACHINGS and not YOUR opinion.
(Christianity appears to be diametrically opposed to the "teachings" of Muhammed, which involve hating all non-believers, converting, conquering or killing them.)

Progress is being made. It has been illegal for several years now, but persists although in a less damaging form. Insha Allah (God willing) the people will learn it is not part of Islam and the practice will die out soon.
While Indonesia is the largest Muslim Country, they are not the majority of Muslims. Also unter both Sunni and Shi'a an Imam does not have the right to issue a Fatwah (S statement of what is permitted or forbidden) under Sunni that has to be a Mufti under Shi'a it has to be an ayatoulah or a Mullah.
National tribal practices are very difficult to eliminate and in some areas many people really do believe female circumcision is required in Islam.

Unfortunately these tribal customs were picked up by ancient Muslims who carried them with them all around the globe. Unfortunately, as we see, the more Moderate Muslims of the the world have little to no influence on them.
Historically, much of what you just wrote could be said of Christianity: It's a religion that was used as a pretext for military incursions that conquered North (and South) America, pillaged and plundered and stole the lands of American Indians, decimating them and destroying their culture. And then there was hundreds of years of slavery.
Do you mean those liberal Western "values"?
I'm not excusing radical Islam (in fact, it appalls me), but let's try to show a little balance and honesty.
Well while you at it, can you bring Christianity to the year 2015......helps balancing out Christians and Islam today. Like Saudi Arabia and Jordan.......

But it was ever so long ago...
Where are these places? One has to remember, just because people claim to be Christian doesn't mean they have given up their voodoo ways, let alone their past religion. Plus, people who are ONLY introduced to the OT tend to believe strange things, this is not the fault of Christians. Does Jesus call for the killing of non-Christians?

Because I have. And while I love the Bible, there are some disturbing accounts and edicts contained within.

I think the moral to the story; some of us read for information and learning, others follow what they have not read. ISIS does much worse to their females, much worse. Wonder how many have read the Quran and are following Muhammad or military leaders.
There is a part you missed; The context of this verse is that two angels had visited Lot in Sodom in an effort to get him to leave the city since it was about to be destroyed. The two angels appeared in the form of men. Meanwhile, many of the men of the city, who were homosexual, wanted to have relations with the two men, not knowing they were really angels. Lot offered his daughters to the crowd of people instead. The crowd refused the daughters and began to forcibly enter Lot's home in order to abduct the two men/angels so that they could molest them sexually. The angels then blinded the people in the crowd, and the crowd dispersed.
I am sure this wasn't your intention to leave it out or possibly you never learned this.

At least cutting off limbs is not required.
Man, just imagine, if someone had one more line written in the book that women need to cut one hand or poke one eye out, we'll have millions handicapped today.
Glad that our mystery murder novelists were not present that time to write books for people to follow.
Yep, faith is blind! Sorry not blind as you have to read what's written in the book to follow literally.

I'm Agnostic/Atheist but I'm glad that the Christian Legacy in this country that we have to live with today is Christmas (I know it has some Pagan influenced) and "In God we trust" on money. I'm fine with some old religious symbolism but the Literal crap that many fundamental Religious people carry with them is crap.
History shows over and over again that bad people use whatever is at their disposal to brainwash, control and use other people for personal gain. Religion can be one way, but there are others. People on the whole just aren't very smart, sorry but its true. If they have some list of rules to follow handed down from someone else in authority then the responsibility isn't theirs for anything that happens and as long as they do X, Y and Z then they are good. The Bible, Koran or whatever are an X Y and Z. Do this and you're good. Most people don't want to think for themselves. It's a much harder and unclear path. Religion provides a way to transfer the responsibility of thinking for yourself to doing what god says, which in reality is the leaders of whatever church you belong to.
I keep reading on here that Christians did it first. So what? Anytime there is an organized group of people there is potential for corruption and bad people to take over. No doubt history will repeat itself over and over again that way. The terrorists belonging to Islam are an immediate problem right now more than other religious groups. Its just true. Maybe 200 years from now they won't be. I think its dangerous not to admit what is really going on right now. When I hear that they are making tiny children watch atrocities like beheadings and worse in order to desensitize them and turn them into terrorists? That is a problem right now. Is it really smart to say these aren't true Muslims(even though they call themselves this)so they aren't a threat?
I don't know about the rest of you, but if I join a group and then find out members of the group are involved in atrocities and hurting people in representation of the group I quit the group. If you belong to Islam, Christianity or whatever you support all of it though you may not want to.
