Europe exhibited this exact behaviour with their colonies and most have learned that this can-do attitude (the American attitude) simply does not work when you are occupying foreign countries with a complete other culture than the western culture.
All America does is enter a country carpet bomb it and then expect that the problem is solved.
Many Europeans will tell you that the problems are only beginning.
There have been a few (oddly enough women) who are brave enough to try to change this, but with over a billion muslims worldwide...my God, the power they have to rout the enemy within if they so wanted. That boggles my mind.
The same could be said about Bush invading Iraq; how many Americans and / or Christians tried to impeach Bush when there was no WMD at all?
Or every other time he did something equally stupid?
I mean hasn't the Bush administration 'sacrificed' many valuable Americans like a Colin Powell?
Luckily, Christianity left its violent backward ways in the dark ages.....when will Islam do the same?
No they didn't, all they've done is surreptitiously pull a rug over it. Christianity is still a religion that tells everyone that if you don't convert, no matter what your actual moral personality is like, you're still going to spiral off down to hell for all eternity once you die. Although the actions may not be physical, they still use fear tactics to try and convert the masses.

Again, the US government is not a theocracy. We don't like Bush or his policies. He is leaving office and more then likely Obama will be the one going in. Do the rank and file Muslims get to vote out Imams who thirst for blood? Do they try?
I absolutely have no idea who Ron Paul is.
And this is why you cannot understand US politics, policies and society. You get snippets from the BBC and whatever else, that paint America as a land of beer swilling, bible beating, racists. And that is not the truth by a long shot. Come to the US, Tricky D, and don't just stay in New York or LA....you just may learn something.

Someone telling a person "you are going to burn a thousand years in hell for not being X" is a hell of a lot different then someone sawing off your head with a dull blade while saying "you are going to burn a thousand years in hell for not being X". If you honestly cannot tell the difference, then you have a problem differentiating between fantasy and reality.
People insult Catholicism every day ...... on this board even. I'll engage this posters, defend a religion from lies and misunderstandings. But I have neither felt physically threatened, nor did I feel the need to physically assault someone because they don't like the religion I was raised with.

At least, that is the part of the Bible which you understand.
Hey, God loves you too, Tricky D and that truly is a miracle.
By hating and insulting him your not loving your neighbor.
