Yes, we've all seen how well that works out in places like Iran.

Partial Sharia law bans women from wearing tight pants and men from wearing shorts

another good reason not to embrace islam.

Actually I doubt if the women in Aceh will allow this law to last very long. Muslim women can be very demanding about getting what they want.

People often question the freedom of women in Islam. Perhaps the best ones to ask would be adult unmarried Muslim woman living it Western Countries.

Now some simple facts about a woman's rights. I'll just speak of my wife. She has a very adequate income from her own sources. I am not permitted to touch one penny of it under Islamic law. I am responsible for all bills and for paying for anything she chooses to buy.

I can neither force her to go to the Mosque nor can I stop her if she desires to go.
I can not force her to wear the hijab and again I can not stop her if she wishes to.

If for some reason we were to divorce for any reason other than if she commits adultery, she gets the house and furnishings, I have to provide for her until she remarries, I have to pay her the dower we agreed upon when we married, for each year we were married.

There are many other things but perhaps that is enough to show it is not a one direction relationship.

Now before everybody gets all upset and says that is not what they see. I agree some people inthis world do not obey the Qur'an in fact in some countries it is forbidden to allow a woman to read the Qur'an out of fear they will learn of their rights in Islam.
So, maybe we should email them, just to give them a heads up!

I cannot imagine living in a culture that treated ANYONE like that. I'd love to see a reversal of the restrictions on women, men should be forced to live like that for a few generations.

Depends on what part of Iran you are in.

Some pictures of people on the streets in Tehran:

Many people are surprised to see how European the Iranians look. The word Aryan comes from the word Iran and refers to the race of the people. Iran is the ancestral home of many Germans. Iran is not a semitic country and the people are not Arab, but much more closely related to the people of the Nordic and Germanic races.

Much of Iran is very similar to the European countries especially in the Mountainous Northern provinces where the temperatures can be quite cold. I did not take these pictures, they were sent to me in emails at a time when I was talking about what a beautiful country Iran is. I have been in the locations were these pictures come from and it all looks familiar.

I should note there are 5 Seperate madhabs of sharia. Iran follows the Jafa'ari madhab which provides for only the maximum penalty allowed. with no room for leniency by the court. they are the only nation that follows Jafa'ari Sharia. Saudi follows the Hanabli which allows for the court to determine the punishments and to decide which laws have an earthly punishment. Much of the world follows the Hanafi sharia which strives for lenience and no earthly punishment for most laws. It is the practice in Hanafi to allow a person to settle their crime with Allaah(swt) alone except for crimes that pose a danger to others such as stealing or murder. Even in those cases the courts are to find reason to be lenient. the Death penalty has been outlawed in nearly every country that practices Hanafi sharia.

The Jafa'ari sharia is a Shi'i madhab and is not recognized as a legal madhab by the Sunni.

It would be an issue in some sections of Saudi. I doubt if there would be any issue in the American sections.

Afghanistan it would be from the Taliban, but not from the government as at the moment there is no Central Afghanistan government. Never really has been, Afghanistan has long been under tribal laws with each tribe setting it's own laws. It will be interesting to see what law ever does form, if any central law is ever formed.
