Once the dust has settled, I predict the usual skankynail boutiques, wig shops, and barbecue places.
You said it right. Don't understand how they are planning to feed all these businesses without having any considerably big jobs creation.
A side note, if there are any jobs, they will be taken by neighboring city residents. Jackson kids/youth/working age have no good education to compete in those high paying jobs.

#TRUTH ... I wouldn't want Lanier or Murrah's finest working at these upscale places. It's important that developments like this & the Meridian have tight security, overnight security as well, to ward off the thugs from breaking into cars, businesses, etc.

Teens from Fondren, Meadowbrook, Eastover, Madison, Gluckstadt, would serve better working at the District.

To defend the District from GG however, it's going to be a mix of the Renaissance & Township, and those places are doing just fine years after they were developed.

Not saying there's zero crime in the area, but you don't hear of a lot of violent crime in this part of Jackson.

It's more property crime than anything.

Something tells me the District at Eastover will have more security per square foot than the White House. They're not going to invest this much money and allow safety to be an issue for one minute if they can avoid it. Most likely as long as the stores there are expensive and exclusive, it will remain safe much like the Renaissance (let's hope!).

I also feel that there will be lots of security, whether it's their own or contracted through a company like Securitas. I also won't be surprised seeing JPD and the HCSO patrolling often.

Oh yeah it's gonna be great! The best about this whole development is that, downtown it's so hard for guests to find something to do after business hours, besides a place to eat, because a lot of the downtown attractions close early & even Mayflower has temporary closing hours at 8PM, which makes it even harder to get something late at night.

Over there at the DaE, there's gonna be no shortage of shopping, restaurants, & plus a movie theater, so it's definitely gonna be a happening place where our guests can really enjoy themselves.
