Safe place to live around UMMC (Jackson, Laurel: apartments, for rent, crime)

Hi everyone,

I would be moving to Jackson city Ms, this summer, to work in UMMC, would be taking call in hospital, will require to commute in night as well.Please suggest nice safe,furnished, cleaned neighborhood, apartment for renting, closed to UMMC, primary concern would be safety for a female, will not be sharing,may have location, at 10 minutes drive from UMMC, need parking place also.Furnishing include bad, table dining table, night lamps,etc other than kitchen amenities.Please suggest, would appreciate.thanks in advance.

I'd suggest looking into the Fondren Hill Apartments on Lakeland Drive there at Old Canton Road, or the townhomes on Woodland Hills Place, I know there was one there on Zillow for $1050/mo. And there's also a row of townhomes on Northview Drive right there at Hartfield Street off of North State Street that pop up for rent every now and then.

Fondren Hill is a great choice because it's directly across the street from UMMC, assuming they have furnished apartments. Also you can drive through the Belhaven neighborhood, immediately around Belhaven University, looking for-rent signs. This is a historic district and walking distance to UMMC (better to bike though). Belhaven is safe enough (tons of professionals live there) but it's not crime free if that's what you want.

Also for simplicity, you can look in the city of Flowood in Rankin County, which has nice apartments, with numerous fairly new complexes all the way down Lakeland Drive, which forms the northern boundary of UMMC and goes east into Rankin County.

Flowood is about 10 minutes from UMMC. A few of them include Reflection Point, Cypress Point, Laurel Park, Carlton Park, and Ashford Place. Flowood is extremely safe and has all the usual amenities in terms of suburban shopping, etc.

Try Fondren Hill. It is safe and close to UMC. Otherwise try Madison or Flowood.
