Any vacant land on I-55 north isn't large enough to build a Costco on. The average Costco is about 145K square feet, about 3/4 the size of a Super Walmart. That's not counting the parking lot. Unless they're gonna buy existing properties and tear them down, it's not happening. Buying up existing properties won't happen overnight. Then, there's the expense of tearing it down and hauling it away. No doubt Costco can afford to do it. The only place with the space with interstate viewing in Jackson will be I-20 or 220. Maybe 55 south.

As for I-20, they could locate somewhere between Jackson & Clinton, like in the area of the old Jackson Motor Speedway. As for 220, I honestly can't see them locating anywhere on it, unless it's somewhere close to the Hanging Moss/Highland Colony exit.

Since we're dreaming...

If hindsight was 20/20, a good spot would be where Comcast and Carmax are located, on Beasley.

Another option would be the plot where Roundtree car dealer is sitting. We have more than enough car dealers along I55.

Or the highly underutilized Smith Wills...

Smith-Wills is not happening because of the Secretary of State.

And the Jackson leaders have no blame as they tried to sell land that's not theirs?

Costco. They want to build at Smith Wills and they aren't backing down. You can thank the idiot Secretary of State for that. I guess I shouldn't have called it a deal since there was no actual plan to build one. But the idea is definitely dead at the moment.
