It does sound like a nice place. I don't live in an affluent area, but it's nice enough. I am noticing more doughboy pools surrounded by chain link fences. There you have the emaciated bikini clad young women frolicking with their pit bulls. It's worth noting that, in these neighborhoods, there is the occasional Confederate flag flying next door to the Mexican flag—across the street from a huge Hello Kitty flag! Interesting. I think it was Adam Carolla who said that flying the Confederate flag is an inexpensive and effective form of home security.

GG is The Whistler of Mississippi, with some Hedda Hopper thrown in for good measure.

Does GG have a Louella Parsons to feud with?

How does it not? It's entertaining humor pertaining to things in the Jackson metro area. Sorry if it's not your style, no one asked you to stop by and comment.

GrandviewGloria posts should come with a warning. NC-17 rating.

I think I'm gonna be traumatized for a while with that hamster story. Why am I here? LOL

I have to set the record straight! No, that barber shop, the one in early-to-mid Twentieth Century Doctor's Wife Colonial Salt Box, is not the one!!! We've been watching that business, and so far, the new folks have been EXTREMELY RESPECTFUL OF THE GROWIES. The plantings include an enormous Ilex Opaca (American Tree Holly https://farfromloam.files.wordpress....tree-form4.jpg), which is one of the botanical treasures of the town - adding so much green, in a bleak, brown winter. So far, it is untouched. Please patronize that business. Those nice folks seem to belong in Madison.

Is that the same thing as uh Uppaground Swimmin' Pool? Where I came from, only the rich people, like Long-haul truckers and Telephone linemen could afford those. While my mama was dreamin' of hookin' a rich man, who'd set her up in a nice used Fleedwood Doublewide (http://www.pacificwalkhomes.com/wp-c...lle-456104.jpg), with gold hi-lo nylon shag and amber swag lamps (my birth name, before I changed it, might even have been 'Amber', since it's so classy an' all...), I'd be dreamin' of havin' uh Uppaground Swimmin' Pool, right out in front, next to the satellite disk (which was also on our 'dream list', for when Mama could 'git straight' long enough to hook another man).

But yes: I have to agree that nothing announces to the world, that you've arrived and are living El Buen Vivir (or, at least, La Vida Loca), like a chain-link fence, a pit bull, a plastic swimming pool, and a skinny white girl on meth (in a Super K-Mart bikini).

Those skinny blonds start out looking like Kesha (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iP6XpLQM2Cs), and all think they're Lana Del Rey, the Patron Saint of Skanks (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QnxpHIl5Ynw), until the necrosis sets in (https://heavyeditorial.files.wordpre...-151.gif?w=640).

Girl, we've gotta get you out of LA.

What's important, Sugah Ray, is that you read through the entire thread! Somebody in Florida read all the way through a whole Mississippi thread! Thank you! I find that most validating. However, to me, the real news in the 'hamster' post was the link to the Big Snake Loose story - mostly because of the rear-views of that big muscle-bull of a reporter - and because they kept talking (with obvious twinkles of irony in their eyes) about "finding giant snakes", and "handling big snakes", in REUNION, an idyllic community of pricey homes, known as a hotbed of high-end swinging: Reunion Swinger's Club . When your car keys go into a bowl out there, that bowl will be hand-blown art glass, fine cut crystal, or something from Grandmama's collection of Cloisonné . http://images.kovels.com/price_guide...ls-br20247.jpg

Supposedly, having a pineapple on the porch is 'code'. I have no idea whether it's additional code, to have the pineapple-upside-down: Madison Pineapple
