Clinton 10 (Clinton) and Northpark 14 (Ridgeland) will close their doors. The theater in Clinton will become the new Pinelake Church.

I'm not surprised about Northpark's theater closing. I can't comment on Clinton since I haven't been there in a very long time.

I'm actually surprised that it has taken this long for the North Park one to close. The last time I visited was about six years ago, and we had to get up and leave. People were smoking in the theater, throwing things, yelling, and cussing. When dh and I left there was a couple of people standing by the door who said that they had been told that management was coming to try to check things out after they had complained, but they had been waiting for fifteen minutes. Of course, this could have been an isolated incident, but I would bet that it was a regular occurrence.

Isn't this standard procedure when they want to close a business? Stop managing it, stop cleaning it, then exclaim that no one comes there anymore, and shut the doors.

Theaters are closing all across the US. People would rather watch movies on their computer.

Or on TV via their cable or satellite provider.

It also could be the amenities (or the lack thereof) the theaters provided.

A movie theater is in the works for One Eastover Center, in northeast Jackson.

Isn't the Ridgeland theater still open? Wonder why it didn't end up closing. Too bad the Clinton theater did. I remember when it opened and saw many movies there. Was disappointed to see it closed when I moved back.

Shame, I saw a ton of movies at that theater in the 90s. That was the place to be for a high schooler, there and at the one out 25 by NWR, don't remember the name of it.
