None of us may ever live in Jackson, but surely we can carve out a piece of it to be a nice place to visit? That's all we are saying. When I move to Jackson in a few months, I'll be looking in Brandon, not the city limits of Jackson. I get it. But I really think you urban haters need to back up and look at this thing from 30,000', and realize what a nice, developed urban center can do for the area and state.

You say it can't be done, I say it can. I've seen it done in other, similar, places. Be negative if you choose. That is certainly prevalent in Mississippi.
No crap this state would be better served by a good major city at its core. I don't think there is anyone on this forum that WANTS to see Jackson continue to fail, but the fact of the matter is it has failed.

I am just tired of the overly-optimistic approach that some users on this forum take. They deny that crime is even a problem or even happens. They claim that [insert-project-here] is going to be the thing that blasts Jackson off into success-space.

It's about like spending a few million dollars on a few roundabouts and one-way roads for a downtown area that no one even visits. What kind of city would do that? Oh wait, the very one we are talking about. The same one that when presented with a problem will scramble to find positive things to pat themselves on the back for instead. Remember when the city stopped releasing crime statistics because they said it doesn't create an accurate perception of the city? Well hell, I'm just going to stop weighing myself because I feel like the scale is going to tell me I'm fat.

We all know this. It's been stated multiple times.

Nobody says these things weren't dumb. Of course they were. But what are we going to do from here? Throw our hands up and be poor lil ole misi sipi forever?

Not me. I won't accept that. You carry on however you wish. It will eventually change with or without you.

It won't be with you either, since you've already said you won't be living in Jackson. What are you going to contribute to Jackson if you aren't paying property taxes and such?

Gotta go all in bro.

It's been said multiple times that you don't have to specifically reside in the City Limits of Jackson. At this point, you're trying to be argumentative. Good luck to you.

God knows how many times I venture to forums of cities and states I don't live in and lecture and argue with the people who live there. I mean who doesn't, right? I know just as much as they do even if I don't live there, pay taxes there, know the city leaders, etc.

Well. Just don't make statements like there's "NO CRIME" in an area that everyone knows good and damn well there's plenty. Then you won't have to eat your words.

If you did not visit yet, consider visiting Jack City during Feb 24-26. There is a big city wide light show during those dates in Jackson (one of the first in the US.)
