I know that some may not be familiar with the neighborhoods I will discuss...

As an outsider to both states, I am curious how you think Madison, Mississippi compares to Mountain Brook, Alabama, a suburb that one could say is very comparable to Madison. Of course, they are in different states, and while Birmingham may be a more happening place than Jackson, the people of Mountain Brook can't boast that they have a lake in their neighborhood.

I notice Madison homes tend to be cheaper, although this could be due to the average income in both areas (I would guess people near Birmingham make more).

What do you think? Is Madison AS nice? Nicer? Are they even comparable or am I just a dumb outsider?

From what I can see, they are both pretty similar to Highland Park in Texas.

Madison is very nice FOR Mississippi, it's not in the ballpark of Moutain Brook though. B'ham area is much better than Jackson, heck Hoover would be the second biggest city in the 'Sip.

Mountain Brook is sort of like a private town. VERY expensive and very exclusive. Richest zip code in Alabama.

Madison is similar to Mountain Brook in that it's the best area in Mississippi, but the money isn't the same. Madison is more affordable and not as exclusive.

Plus, Birmingham is sort of a different type of city than Jackson, Jackson is more comparable to Montgomery, ie the capital and all that, except Jackson is bigger as a metro area. Birmingham is industrial, built on a hill, not on a river, etc.

Thanks for the info!

Which do you think is more fun? Which do you think is in a better geographical location? Which do you think has the nicest people?

Which area do you think is better for fishing/hunting? Jackson or Birmingham area?

I have no clue. Both can be fun I guess. Jackson metro is closer to New Orleans, Birmingham is closer to Atlanta.

Jackson and MS in general get my vote for hunting/fishing. It's a paradise for that.
