Jackson Jambalaya: Info for Belhaven Tax Increase Election

I rode through Belhaven and Fondren a couple days ago, there is a lot going on. I've always considered UMC to be the border between the two, the border between Fondren and Woodland Hills seems to be less defined. The whole area is looking up though.

Belhaven has been on the up and up for a while. The Belhaven building across from Baptist with the townhomes in the back, and the town center currently under development have added to the vibrancy to the area. In a way, you can call Belhaven Fondren Jr.

Agreed. I can't wait for the brewery and the open-air market.

Jackson Free Press ran an article on Belhaven Beach a few months ago, and I would love if the Belhaven foundation and the city made a commitment to making the beach more accessible as a city attraction.

Northside Sun also ran an article about the land where the Cabot Lodge and Wendy's used to be. Milsaps is looking at options for the land.

The Belhaven/Fondren area could be something even more special in like a decade.

I've never been to Belhaven Beach, I see there is a walking path to it now. I'm going to get over, where is the best place to park?

There was also a gas station that was torn down several years ago.

Do you think Jackson’s future mayor lives there?

I just saw this walking/biking trail yesterday (I had to divert through Belhaven due to I55 South at waterworks being at a standstill), but it will eventually connect High St to Lakeland (and beyond). It is a nice addition to the area.
