No funding for the golf course may be a blessing in disguise. The land occupied by the golf course could be developed into something special. Personally I'm hoping the zoo eventually moves there. At any rate, that land can/should be used for something that produces more interest and serves more people than a 9 hole golf course.

Would you or anyone else happen to know how many acres is the current 9-hole course? I see the Jackson Zoo is approximately 110 acres and a 9-hole golf course, in general, is roughly 80-90 acres, according to Google. I couldn't find how many acres the actual golf course at Lefleur's was, however.

I was thinking, would it be possible to have a smaller zoo at Lefleur's that could promote the larger zoo in Livingston Park? However, I see the Agricultural Museum now has a petting zoo, so that may be redundant.

I'd be good with a little smaller zoo. I do think the state should pay for it as it would be an asset for the entire state and the state should provide law enforcement. I'm not sure of the boundaries of the Capitol Police (i know they were recently extended), but expand them to cover this area (if not already).

Obviously the current mayor has a poor relationship with the state government (and vice versa), so cooperation between the two, which it would take to get this done, may be an issue.

If you think vetoing money towards those projects was evil, your priorities are skewered.

I think he's evil for a variety of reasons and this adds to the list.
