I don't think any part of the state is that safe:

Hurricane Evacuation Zone Maps-State Hurricane History: Florida (http://www.csc.noaa.gov/hez_tool/states/florida.html - broken link)

If you do a fair amount of reading about hurricanes - the air currents - pressure areas - etc. have a lot to do with where hurricanes wind up. And those forces tend to change - often slowly - sometimes quickly. Regardless - I agree with you about the concrete block construction.

Frankly - I can't remember when the weather down south usually gets really hot. Here it's usually sometime in June - and we get into nice weather again sometime in October. I'd say my favorite months here are March/April/May and October/November/sometimes December. Robyn

Thanks for the link - the southern tip really gets hammered! A few areas that look like they have less lines crossing through them may have just been lucky.

We are looking at the Palm Coast area for retirement. One thing we have heard is that much of Florida is overrun by Northeasterners bringing there abrasive ways with them. Is that true of the NE Florida area?
