I hope they do not push it back any further. You know you gotta give it to those VA politicians so greedy to keep 5 ships for themselves. 3000 Sailors & Officers, at least 1500 dependents, creation on 6000 jobs & 500 million anually. Maybe Norfolk needs to learn huh to have a diverse economy. They are just like Detriot putting all their eggs in one basket. Glad the Navy is digging out the river, making room for not only NUKE carriers, but other ships.

There are quite a few boats at Mayport being decomed, we are picking up some newer ones but their crew sizes are much smaller. What should have been a done deal for Mayport has now become a full out war from Virginia to stop the carrier from coming. From 2014-15 to 19 shows it's not anywhere close to being a done deal.

I do think it is amazing that a matter of defense/nat. security has turned into one of the most contentious political debates I have ever seen. Politicians in Virginia ought to be absolutely ashamed, and anyone who is buying into their mess of an argument.

The problem with VA Beach/Hampton Roads/Norfolk is it is entirely dependent on the navy. Jacksonville can survive and get by without Mayport (but it would still be a huuuggee blow), but they would cease to exist without their bases. I guess that's why they want every carrier in that one base? Instead of surviving on just one industry and causing a political mess, the leaders of that community need to find a way to diversify their economy. They are pathetic up there imo.
