State champions of 4A. Scored 3 unanswered TDs in the 4th quarter. Very nice. First Coast High plays in the 7A title game on Friday.

GO BULLDOGS
This is Bolles 11th State Championship in football. And this is Coach Corky Rogers (the all-time winningest Florida high school football coach) 10th state championship at Bolles.

Pretty easy when you can cherry pick players from all over Jacksonville and place them on your team. : P

Any school can do that, all you need is an address in the district.

While I somewhat agree that Bolles can "cherry-pick", having a neice that goes to Bolles gives me a certain insight. Just being good at sports will not get you into Bolles. You also have to be an academic achiever to get a spot there. And judging from the amount of homework I've seen the typical Bolles student go home with, if their players can keep their grades up and win a championship they deserve their spots on the team.

Yes ANY school can do that. They just better not get caught doing it, as it is against the FHSAA rules. And if caught recruiting players, it would lead to the forfeiture of all games that the recruited player participated in. As I stated in another thread Tim Tebow was home schooled and his parents rented an apartment in the Nease HS district so he could participate in Nease HS activities (football) But Nease did not recruit Tebow, his parents looked around and decided Nease would be the best place for him to play and star at. And the rest is history! Nease did not recruit Tebow but they were sure glad to get him.

Bolles doesn't have that problem as it is a private school (no district boundaries) and draws student/athletes from all over the town/state/country/world. And as such it is allowed to give scholarships to ''academically qualified'' applicant.

When I played in TN, the public schools voted to put the private schools in their own classification because they thought we "recruited"

Not the case here...but maybe it should be! When I first played high school football (67/68 private school) we played 6 man class C football against schools with very small enrollments. At Episcopal there were only 220 total students that first year, and of that only 90 were boys. And even back then we had one player on scholarship playing football. (his father was an Episcopalian Minister)
