Hello. My husband will be attending the University of St. Augustine this September. Do you have any recommendations where we could find housing for 2 adults, a toddler, and 4 cats? We'd prefer renting a single-family home or duplex or villa unit, 2-bed/2-bath/garage or 3-bed/2-bath, at least 1100 square feet. We would be willing to commute, as long as it's not too far. Which cities/areas do you recommend that we look at?

Thank you!

You may find a house for rent in St. Augustine Shores that will accept the 4 cats. Many condo associations have restrictions on pets if the units are being rented.

Note that St. Johns County has a leash law for cats. And zoning rules may limit the number of pets you have (I believe the limit is 4 in unincorporated St. Johns County - but places like the City of St. Augustine may have different limits). In any event - I'd look at what the legal requirements are in any place you're considering renting. Robyn

Ordinances regarding pets: City of St. Augustine 4 max; Unincorporated St. Johns County 5 max. Thyere is a leash law for cats and dogs thruoghout the county. Each condo assoc. will have their own riules which should be included in their condo docs. Condo docs can be read online through the County Clerk's website.

You're right about the 5 in unincorporated SJC (I asked my husband - his HOA rules committee had a "too many pets" case recently). Our HOA has a limit of 4. Robyn
