Sorry - but I don't know much about section 8 housing in general - and I know nothing about it in Ponte Vedra (if it exists here). Robyn

Courtney: Are you inquiring about Ponte Vedra because you work in JAX? There are no apartments in Ponte Vedra accepting section 8 that I am aware of. The Jacksonville Housing Authority publishes a list of apartments in St. Johns County that accept section 8 vouchers but all the complexes I have seen listed are in the St. Augustine and Hastings areas. It is nearly impossible to find single family home landlords who take the section 8. Here is a link to a list of apartments in the St. Augustine area that takes them section 8 housing in Saint Augustine Florida

Craytonrobin: According to HUD rules, you must consult with the Public Housing Authority that currently administers your housing assistance to verify the procedures for moving your vouchers, if you are living out of the Jacksonville, FL Public Housing Authority's service area. The Jacksonville authority maintains a list of apartments accepting the vouches, but does not maintain a database of houses accepting them. Once you verify the process for moving here with your vouchers, you will have to find the rental houses yourself, and request that the landlord accept your voucher. Do you have friends or family living in Jacksonville who can help you by viewing the various properties that fit your criteria? If not, this could be very difficult because there are a lot of scams on craigslist, which is one of the main ways people here find rentals.
