My sister is thinking about relating to Jacksonville next June. Any info on nice places for senior on fixed income, does not drive so would need some form of public transit. Relocating from Lithonia ga. Very active, loves travel especially cruises. How is cost of living there? Apartments?

Riverside/Avondale would probably be the perfect location for your sister, as it is centrally located with a lot of public transportation going through it. It is also conveniently located to shopping and numerous dining opportunities. Lithonia, Ga. is a suburb of Atlanta? not real sure never been there but if it is I'm sure the cost of living here is no more than there probably less than though. Riverside has several different styles of apartments single homes that have been converted to multifamily, many purpose built apartment buildings, no real large apartment complexes.

FYI:
Best neighborhoods to retire - Jacksonville, FL (19) - Money Magazine

The description isn't exactly accurate, but close enough. There are a number of senior living condos in the area, not sure how much or their availability.
