I'd like to visit the Beaches area towards the end of September or early October. I want to stay at the Beach and I'd like an inexpensive room for an extended weekend, 2-3 nights. I do not have discerning taste, I am used to roughing it, so it does not need to be anything fancy. I am very familiar with the area, so anywhere North of Hugonaught Park (I probably spelled that wrong) and South of Atlantic Blvd, and preferably between 3rd Street and the water is what I would like. I know that there are some non-chain hotel/motels in that area that I probably will not be able to find on hotels.com. Those are kind of what I am interested in.

The Sea Turtle Inn is a nice hotel right on the beach.

It's going to be converted into a luxury hotel and spa soon, so it could be your last chance to see it as the "Sea Turtle" .

The prices are pretty good especially considering you'd have an oceanside room.

The hotel was in their own room renovations in the last couple of years and I'm not sure if they ever finished before deciding to sell the hotel, so be sure to get one of the better renovated rooms. The rooms are a good size and I believe they all have balconies:

The Sea Turtle is closer to Atlantic Blvd than Hugenot - Hugenot is to the north, tucked in under Amelia Island.

The SeaTurtle is at Atlantic and 1st st. I was looking for something else. Any more suggestions?
