As for novelty... the town I live in (Charlotte) use to not have the attendance for a while until this year. This year they showed up due to Cam Newton. Did Cam produce wins? Not really. He only won 6 and lost 10. Did they fans continue coming, even though the team was losing? Yes.
Charlotte never had an attendance problem due to the PSL contracts that force the person to buy tickets every year or lose the license. I know this since I was a PSL holder until 2009 when I moved to JAX. Now people might not have showed up, but Richardson already had your money.

He absolutely would sell tons of tickets and other things for the team.
So one of the 55 roster spots should go to a guy because he might help merchandise sales? By the way, most of any NFL's money is made on the national TV contracts with CBS, FOX, and ESPN. Ticket sales make up very little.

Just because tickets are sold (fully aware of the PSL) doesn't mean people actually show. Thus the attendance problem I spoke of.

and my point is that Charlotte never has to make a decision based on how many fans a player will put in the seats because the seats are presold.
