Is this a good area, safe, good schools? I have seen so many beautiful houses and seems like a really nice place to live, good prices too. Any info. Is great.

Thanks

I've lived in Mandarin for the majority of my ~20 years in Jacksonville. I've always known this area to be safe and the schools to be highly-rated.

Very suburban. Long drive into town. Good schools overall. Relatively low crime rate, but it does have it's spots. Plenty of strip malls and big box stores, along with your favorite chain restaurants. Little in the form of nightlife, the arts, festivals, etc.

My sister has lived there for years. Good schools, no real issues with crime.

I've lived in Mandarin since 1992. I like it. It is a bit of a drive if I'm going to Arlington or the northside, but other than those two areas, it is not a bad drive to get to other areas.
I recommend it.

Mandarin has the Mandarin Arts Festival on Easter weekend. That's our claim to fame.

It also has the only Whole Foods in the metro area. I drive there from the Beaches at least every couple of weeks to get my "fix" .

It also has the best skilled nursing facility in NE Florida (or perhaps the whole state of Florida) - River Garden - where my late FIL lived for the last 2 1/2 years of his life (it was so good we were willing to drive there from the Beaches on a regular basis so he could get excellent care).

It is also the center of the relatively small Jewish community in the metro JAX area. There are a few synagogues - the JCA - etc. It also has one of the 2 Eruvs in Florida that isn't in SE Florida (the other is in Tallahassee):

Eruv - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Perhaps the center of Catholic Jacksonville as well (Catholic Corners). And it has the only Hindu Temple in the JAX metro area.

Then there's the Winston Y (I used to play a lot of tennis matches there).

It also has Flying Dragon (good place to buy citrus trees). An annual Camellia show at the Mandarin Garden Club. An excellent (maybe the best) Asian grocery store in JAX.

Unlike some people here - I think most parts of JAX have things worth seeing and doing. Mandarin has more than most IMO. Robyn
