Hello all. I have a question for these boards that consists more on your personal experiences concerning the homeless in Jax, than it does mere 'homeless statistics' and such.

I'm looking to create a good comprehensive assessment of 'where' the homeless in Jacksonville, FL are most *noticeable* and likewise, 'seen'.
In other words, while certain streetnames and particular parts of town within Jacksonville where the greatest poverty levels are documented would be appreciated. I would ask even more for examples of where you find the 'homeless population' most openly seen and noticed in our city, whether it be on a park bench or simply walking down the side of the road.

From my experience, i am very aware of the great number of homeless that can be seen within the downtown area on any given work day, Monday through Friday. What I am far more curious of though would be concerning the "weekends" and even more particularly, Sundays. Where, from your experiences, do you find the greatest numbers of homeless noticeable and easily seen abroad, specifically on Sundays, but also any day of the week for that matter?

thank you all.

I don't know that I could pick a particular area, aside from Downtown as you already mentioned.

From what I see, the homeless, and near-homeless, are everywhere in Jax. The resources just aren't here for them, so they seem to be scattered all over. I think the warm weather here also enables them to spread throughout the city (as opposed to colder cities where they need to congregate near some sort of shelter in cold weather).

Are you looking to set up a soup kitchen or something along those lines?

(And before anyone jumps to any conclusions, there are homeless in the surrounding counties as well )
