Don't know anyone in their right mind except a Hawaiian friend of mine who likes pineapple and ham on his Hawaiian pizza!

My brother-in-law (from Iowa) likes pineapple and ham, but he's not necessarily in his right mind - ha ha.

Pineapple does not belong on a pizza... just sayin... I think that is the most disgusting thing. I am a huge fan of NY style pizza!! I do love mushrooms on pizza though... and most other veggies.

Check out Marios on 3rd street for good pizza. It's about the only good pizza I can find around here. The other place I used to like--Ray's Pizza--was way across town in a bad area but has closed.
Wait, Ray's, on Emerson??

Dammit, another one of those places I always meant to try and never got around to. Though they were in an absolutely lousy location to try to build any kind of regular business.

I gotta disagree - I think just about anything on a pizza is fantastic. If it's good, fresh pineapple, with a good sauce, and a good salty ham, the flavor combination is fantastic.

For some reason, people tend to have extraordinarily strong opinions on pizza, what is or isn't pizza, what's acceptable vs what is forbidden...

All I ask for is a good crust, high-quality cheese, and decent sauce. In that order. In Jax, good crust isn't as hard to find as high-quality (i.e. non-Sysco) cheese.

The big flat greasy New York style pizza is pretty easy to come by. I'm continually confused as to why it seems to be so popular...

Yup. It's closed. My friend and I drove over there a couple of months ago hoping for a good pie only to find it closed.

There are rumors they were trying to open a location by the Beaches but nothing has ever come of it.

For people who come from areas where pizza is popular (and good), you are correct, we have strong opinions on what's good pizza and what's not good. I just happen to be right about that sort of thing.

But seriously, most people who are from these areas are more pizza purists and aren't as interested in various things on their pies that you wouldn't (traditionally) find on them. Doesn't mean it might not taste good but we like our traditional pies better.

I've found it infuriatingly difficult to find pizza around here with good crust which hasn't been burnt. For some reason, almost all of the pizza places around here seem to want to burn the crust and make it crunchy. It's not supposed to be crunchy!!!!

You are right that it's easy to find NY-style pizza but it's next to impossible to find GOOD NY-style pizza. Where I come from--Trenton, NJ--is actually famous for what they call the tomato pie. It's got a slightly thinner crust than even the NY-style pizza and is even more sloppy. And it's oh-so-good!!!
