How high do you set your thermostat in the summer - e.g. right now?

Mine thermostat is set to kick on the A/C around 87 - 89 °F. On the more humid days I set it down to 87 °F; normally it's 88 or 89. I realize this probably sounds crazy to some people but yes that's where my thermostat is at in the summer! I actually find it bearable as long as I have my floor fan nearby. Saves a lot of energy too. But I'm just wondering how high others set their thermostat. I know some have it at 72 °F but just how common is that, with the skyrocketing energy costs?

Dang! 87-89F? I can't image having it that hot inside the house. Your JEA bill has to look great.

We're 78-80 during the day, and then down to 72 at night. (gotta have it cool at night, to sleep well)

On the other hand, we're probably on the opposite end of the spectrum during the Winter time. Then, we don't turn the heat on until it gets down to about 64. That's probably a little lower than most people.

Yikes! You're talkin' crazy man!

Personally, I like it cooler, unfortunately, my bank account can't afford it. So I keep it at 80 during the day (at the very high range of barely comfortably for me) and 77 at night or if company is around.

87!!?? I'd be sweating like crazy...fan or no fan.

We leave the bedroom thermostat at 78, the family room at 77 and the upstairs thermostat stays at 76 . (We added an extra sensor to detect the temperature upstairs, that unit is pretty much always running.) We couldn't possibly raise the thermostat because we have too many windows with western exposure in the afternoons.
If I turned the thermostat to 72 I'd be freezing!!

78 deg day or night. My fans are thermo-controlled so that helps the A/C. The fans kick in (slow down, speed up) when the temp reaches a certain setting.

i asked a question like this some time ago...wanted to know how low people set it in the summer and how high in the winter.

depending on my mood, I'm between 77 and 80 for the AC and 67-70 for the heat

I can't see how people would be cool if the house temp is reading 80. (?)
